Clary Fray lived a normal life.  At least she did until she witnessed a murder at a dance club while out with her best friend Simon.  What she couldn’t understand is why the victim disappeared in front of her eyes.  You see, she wasn’t supposed to see it in the first place.  Not because there weren’t supposed to be witnesses to the murder, but because the murder victim was a demon and the ones who killed the demon were Shadowhunters.

Shadowhunters are warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons and Jace is one of the best there is.  When Jace realized Clary could see everything, he knew she must have some Shadowhunter blood in her and wants to take her back to the Institute where Shadowhunters train and live.  Before Jace can convince Clary to come with him, she gets a frantic phone call from her mother talking of danger.  Clary can tell that her mother is attacked because the phone line goes dead in the middle of their conversation.  Without thinking about the possible danger to herself or what she might find when she gets there, Clary abandons Jace and heads for home as fast as she can.  There she meets a creature worse that anything she could have imagined.  She manages to kill monster, but is injured in the process.  Thankfully, Jace followed her home and was able to help her back to the Institute where she could recover.

Once she enters the world of the Shadowhunters everything in her life changes.  Her relationship with Simon is drastically changed, she discovers the true identity of her father, and she learns what betrayal really means.  On her quest to find her mother, Clary and Jace form a strong bond.  Together they fight vampires, werewolves, and other creatures from strange demon dimensions.

CITY OF BONES is filled with action and humor.  Jace’s character is lovable and causes you to laugh all through the book.  If you are a fan of fantasy you will definitely love this book and be chomping at the bit until the next one comes out in 2008.  The sequel is called CITY OF ASHES.

After I read Twilight, I thought that that was one of most well-written books with a great plot I had ever read, until I picked up City of Bones. Now, for all of you who don’t love Twilight, City of Bones is nothing like Twilight at all. I mostly just compare books by the level of interest in the plot and characters and the use of language descriptiveness.
Basically how well the story was done overall.

City of Bones is a completely different story with action [swords and fighting for guys], awesome characters with awesome personalities, suspense when the unexpected occurs, romance [and lots of it!-for the girls], wicked cool names like Jace, Clarissa, Valentine, Maia, and Magnus Bane, and an unbelievable twist at the end of the book that will have you scrambling to get the next book ASAP!

If you enjoy romance, a bit of violence, cool weapons, hot guys and gals, suspense, the supernatural, intertwined stories and people, and a cruel twist of fate, this book is for you.

But I’m simply not giving it justice. Read it and find out for yourself what it’s like to be Clary Fray for a day.

Okay, I am a major Twilight fan [of course. Another obsessed teenager, go figure]. I thought Twilight was the greatest book I’ve ever read and I’m not really one for romances either. I thought I would be stuck with Twilight on the brain for another few years. That is until I read City of Bones.

The book sounded interesting enough for me. I love the supernatural genre and I think the little review on the cover; saying it was “…sexy…” kinda caught my attention too. I started reading it once I got home and I literally couldn’t stop. It just captured my attention and Jaces’ character just made be laugh, I loved him because he is such a dork sometimes and has pretty witty lines [Edward has some competition now. And mind you, looks have nothing to do with my decisions].
Clary kinda reminds me of Bella; just a bit. She’s stronger than she thinks she is and doesn’t see her own beauty apparently.

I knew I should have bought City of Ashes at the time too, but I wasn’t sure if I’d even like the book. Now, I have to wait until my next shopping trip in order for me to get City of Ashes and I think I’m dying a little everyday without knowing what happens next. It’s like waiting for Breaking Dawn all over again.

I was a little upset at the end. I like the idea of Jace and Clary; they just seemed to go together with their attitudes and personalities and all.

Overall, it’s a fantastic book and I absolutely LOVE it. x)
