Things aren’t getting any easier in the FAYZ (Fall-out Alley Youth Zone) since the big Thanksgiving Battle against Caine and the other Coates Academy kids. In fact, everything seems to be going from bad to worse. Sam, the appointed leader of Perdido Beach, is feeling the pressure of all the day to day decisions. The biggest problem that everyone is facing is starvation. With the fear and confusion that followed the disappearance of everyone 15 and over, the kids that were left did what they wanted – including eating what they wanted. Nothing was done to preserve food for the future, so meats and vegetables went bad, leaving food in short supply. The kids in Perdido Beach and Coates Academy are left eating what canned food is left. One day it might be asparagus for breakfast, wax beans for lunch, and hot dog relish for dinner. No one is in good spirits and when Caine recovers from his encounter with The Darkness and makes another move for power, things only get worse.
Sam is suffering from all the stress, Little Pete’s powers are getting scarier every day, some of the kids that haven’t developed powers are beginning to start trouble, and important people are switching sides. Danger is at its all time high. Death seems imminent.
Michael Grant has produced a very satisfying sequel. The tension and excitement in the story is palpable. Character development continues to be a strong point. The new characters that are introduced add to the plot, but our favorites from GONE continue to play a large role in the story. HUNGER is the second book in a six-part series. Michael Grant is currently working on the third which will be titled LIES. HUNGER will be released June 2009, but be sure to read GONE first, you’ll need the backstory to really appreciate the sequel.

Gone is amazing. I can’t wait to read the sequel. It sounds fascinating and I love the cover.
Nice. You have so many reviews here. I also love books. I’ll try reading some of the books you reviewed. I just hope they are available here in Philippines.
BTW, I added you to my blogroll.
Holy cow, these books are so much better than twilight!!!!!!!! I love the cover of both books. When i went to school with Gone people came up to me and said “Oh my gosh! He’s so hot!” i laughed so hard. But i love Astrid. She rox! i can’t wait for Hunger. I wonder if that’s Caine and Diana on the front?
Im so so so so excited for this book. I hate that we have to wait, like a year, but i think it will be worth it in the end. Gone was amazing(:

YAY! i cant wait for hunger it sounds awsome, id love to know who the characters on the coer are. I recon the boy is drake but the girl could be a n.o of people. GOGO gone lovers can’t wait.
The boy is Caine and the girl is diana
oh my gosh, i am a speed reader, i can read way faster than most people, i have read hundreds upon hundreds of books, but gone was one of the best things i have ever read, the sequel comes out this summer, right? if that is correct i will be all over that right away, i wish i did not have to wait so long tho, GONE RULEZZ, and ps. astrid rulezz
Deffinitly one of the best books I have ever read!
I am so so so so so SO excited about Hunger, and am curious as crap to know who is killed.
I wonder who is on the front? I know Caine, but is that Diana or Diane or whatever? Her and Lana look a hell of a lot alike…
You think you read fast I read gone in two days it was so fricken good, also micheal what advice do you have for people that want to become a athour
WOW!!!! GONE IS SOOOOOO GOOD !!!! I CANT WAIT FOR HUNGER TO COME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D:D:D:D:D:D
Haha, just two days, connor? man, try one. course, i didn’t eat. so, that makes me a read freak haha. (don’t you just wish you lived in Barnes and Noble’s?) and judging from the cover of GONE, i’d say that’s Caine and Diana, and maybe on the back will be Sam and Astrid. as for becoming an author, i’d love some advice on that as well, but i was a little mad when i first read GONE haha, because i had a lot of ideas like that. but i guess that’s how it is, and i was not disappointed at all haha. can’t wait. and Lee? way better than twilight haha. always.
omg i loved gone and im so exctied for Hunger!
this is like 10 times better than any other book!
cannot wait until June!
And has anyone read The House of Night Series?
Theyre really amazinggg.
this was the most addicted i’ve been to a book since twilight.
i LOVED gone. i’m soo excited for hunger except i am sorta upset that it will be 5 more years before i get to find out how the story ends.
wayyyy better than any book i’ve read. it was just amazing.
Yeah that is very sad I don’t want to wait that long to find out how that ends.
it’s a great book. i can’t wait till the last book to see how it ends. it has to be a hugh end. more people have to read it. it will be like twilight, where no one reads it till the last book or it becomes a movie.
OMG, hunger sounds AMAZING.
i cant wait untill it comes out!!!!
i love sam to death, he’s amazing, i also love astrid , quinn and edilio. i also love LP. ( L )
im a speed reader, like a huge nerd about reading, and i have to say this blog is awsome.
Thanks for the info!
OMG
i’m sooo excited for Hunger!!!! no effence but, i think the Gone series is better than Twilight, and I’ve read the whole series, like, at least three times. My favorite character is Diana, but I like all the other characters too, even that Albert dude.
It really sux though, because we’ll have to wait for, like four or five more years for the last book to come out.
I just cant wait for Hunger!!
Wow! I just read Gone and I loved it. I can’t wait to read Hunger, it sounds so awesome.
Gone was the best book ever! and I didn’t even know about this book until I went to the store and one of the people who worked there mentioned it to me XD I’m SO going to get it!
After reading GONE, I can’t wait to read HUNGER…
The characters are really cool, but I have to admit that Drake kinda freaks me out with his red, scaly whip arm…
And I’m wondering why Diana would go back to Caine? Maybe Michael Grant needed her on Caine’s side for HUNGER and couldn’t come up with a good reason for her to do so…I thought that part was kinda lame. Anyways we only have about a month of waiting so I’m happy about that!
Lol I’m scared to read Gone now with all these commentsxD maybe I should wait till Hunger comes out?
But ughh now everyones got me too excited to go read Gone. I’m just itching to go read it. I hate it when you read such good books and then all other books are like, blah.
I read twilight, and then the host. I was absolutely at lost, all books sucked or was okay, and then Gone comes and seems like the only one that has been able to size up to twilight, thank god:)
Oh and ha! I read the two twilight books in a whole day. Well, I skipped eating like jake and sat in bed all day thru night lol.
So.. shuld I just start reading anyway, now? I’m dieing to know what all this raves about. Is it a good book for guys to read too? Maybe ill tellmy bro to read it after me lol.:)
ahh! this book was amazinggg!!! i read it like right after it came out and i hate the anticipation for the next one! its driving me crazy!
i didnt even know it was a 6 part series when i picked it up but now its like OHMYGOSH! print these faster =p
and yes…sam is very hot
Oh good! I read this book in the Fall and I was wondering when the sequel was coming. 6 book series? I think this book will definitely be a big hit if more sequels are coming out. Like some people have said, after Twilight some books seem dull, but this book was REALLY intriguing (I couldn’t put the book down when I first got it!). Well, I hope this next sequel is good and that the series becomes a big hit!
I’ve already read the Twilight series, and tought it was so good. But then I got GONE then nothing could compare!!!!! What was great about the book was it was featured for teens and pre-teens. The excitement was overwellming I would stay up until early morning reading. Now that I have pre-ordered HUNGER I have been cheaking the mail every day. I can’t wait to read it. I’m almost posatve the series will be fantastic, and might beat Twilight. Can’t wait for Hunger and the rest of the series!!!!!!!
OHMYGOSH! i loooved this book! its amazing that it actually is as good as Twilight. I’m looking into the future and I see that this book is gonna be HUGE! also The House Of Night Series is awesome!
Can’t wait for Hunger (ALMOST JUNE!)
I have read hundreds of books, but I must say that “Gone” is one of my favorites. the fact that i ove mysteries but also to have it have supernatural things twisted with science just makes it bunches better.
When I first read the “Gone” book i had already read “Twilight”. I love “Twilight” don’t get me wrong. But what i loved about twilight was I don’t think it’s adult friendly. With twilight her aim was to attract all ages. “Gone” is a book that us younger teens and such can hopefully relate to. (not the getting powers part)
I was very upset with the ending at first because i hadn’t relized that there was going to be a sequal. Just ask my mother. She would check me at one a.m. reading “Gone” for a third time. She would ask ” did the ending get any better?” of course I would respond with “NO!”. I’m very excited to see Astrid and Sam’s relationship get a little more spark.
My Name is Samantha RIchardson, and i Love the “Gone” series.
this book was soo goood!!!! i LOVE little pete!!!! And astrid… and sam…. cain is okay……. drake scares me. GONE IS SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN TWILIGHT!!!!!!
OMG!! Gone was breathtaking!! i told everyone in my school 2 read it so it can become a move like twilight.
imagine seeing Sam in real life!! dayum! that wud b sxy!
but i cnt wait for Sam and Astrid to get closer to each other… and Caine and Diana. i totally am hyperventalating until Hunger comes out. Everyone tell every human being you know to read Gone, cuz they’ll all be jumping off walls waiting for Hunger to come out!!
i knw i am.
OMG!
Gone was such a Awsome BOOOOOOK!
I cant wait to read the Whole series.
That would be amazing if Gone Turned into a movie.
May 26, 2009
HUNGER!!!
Gone was one of my favorite books.
I, like so many others, cant wait until i get it which is tomorrow after school. I am wondering if they are ever going to see their parents again, so i guess well have to just find out!!!!!!
Jesus chris i haven’t even finished unger (barely started) and I’m already waiting for the thrid one to come out. (tittled Lies)
my friends started reading these after i went to school and the saw the hot guy on the cover. WOW
Just finished hunger!!!! Great job michael. Noticed few typo’s but whatever. Amazing continuation. For those who read the book…. Any idea on brittany’s power? Im guessing it’s endurance and ability to withstand incredible damage. Or she is part cat. With 9 lives.
Brittany’s power is she can run incredibly fast , she beat a bullet in a race. I’m not a normally a book geek but Gone and Hunger are THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ. Every paragragh leaves you on a cliffhanger. If you turn to page 53 and read onto page 61 (Of HUNGER)you will find out what power Brittany has and where she had came from before the FAYZ. By the way Did E.Z. Have a power?.
…that was Brianna, not Brittany
Yeah, that was Brianna not brittany. And no, E.Z. did not have any powers
but yeah, i was wondering about brittany. Hopefully she’ll be in the next book. It’ll be a bit awkward if nothing happens to her xD
*SPOILER ALERT*
Actually, you’re thinking of Brianna, or Breeze. Brittany is the one who got shot and everyone thought was dead, but she really wasn’t. The book ends with her praying after being buried alive and a slug crawling up her back.
Anyway, who was the one that Michael Grant promised would die? The only real death was Duck, and he wasn’t even a major character. I remember that on his MySpace, Michael Grant said that he was killing off a major character and that it shocked his publisher, yet I can’t remember anyone that important dying.
Yea, i had to think about this to, although it didn’t say it, i’m pretty sure we can assume that Drake died; if he didn’t die in the collapse, he would die from hunger. Also, i believe duck was the original death that Michael Grant was talking about, thats why the original title was sacrifice.
Would you believe I actually picked this book up off the shelf and put it down, then 10 minutes later it drew me back and I re read the back cover and purchased it. I’ve read two books in the last two years The Road and Frankie Machine so my taste differs a little… Gone was a absolute cracker. I was actually hypnotised by it as much as my twighlighter girfriend is with her series and I have pre ordered Hunger. Not sure about the worms though… hmm explains the tallons?? on the birds i suppose…. Scott West Oz
gone is the best book ever i ususally dont read books but i picked this one up and couldnt put it down
This was the best book I have ever read!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I don’t usually put this many exclmation points. I loved and still do love this book. This was the most amazing book In the world and anyone should read it.
The fourth one will most likely be called Plauged or Plauge just thought people would like to know that
Sorry I did mean Brianna not Brittany . I’m sorry for any confusion that I made
What do you guys think the 3rd book will be called?
Ok sorry guys, I really am ok. I didn’t read Kyle’s question probably. I think that Brittany’s power would be to be invincible , like she can never die…
Sorry I meant properly NOT probably
Omigosh i havent read HUNGER yet, because my library hasnt bought it yet. ): i will definitely read it tho the first chance i get. i read GONE and really this series is as good as Twilight! I hope that some time later in the series Caine and Sam become friends and team up against the Darkness, because theyre both my favorite characters and i dont want to see either of them getting killed off. Anyway, you should definitely read this series. its awesome.
Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!! I read Gone at my local library, but I loved it so much, I bought it later. So of course I didn’t wait for the library to get Hunger- I went out and bought it as soon as possible, AND OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! It was worth the wait– they still need to be published faster. Wow. The book was just so good, I could not put it down. I’m so sad about Duck, but I am curious- is he really dead? I hope not. When he hit bottom, what did he hit? The FAYZ barrier? They didn’t say that he felt the pain that everyone feels when they touch it. But what would else could stop him? I hope the radiation didn’t kill him. :’( I’m sad about him. And what is up with Brittany? What is the point of her being alive if she can’t do anything- no one else even knows that she is alive. Also- the slug buried with her. Sam saw it! On page 513. Look it up. Crazy, right? So I’m wondering if the slug will somehow heal her or something? I don’t know. Okay, this is a really long post– sorry. I’ll just ask for opinions on two more things. Will the gaiaphage return? And what happens if you step out?
Okay- I forgot one more thing. Computer Jack. I am so disappointed in him for going back over to Caine’s side again!!! However, when he tackled Drake, I forgave him. That was awesome. Especially when Drake didn’t think he could do it.
Could Lana heal Little Pete? Comments please.
UUGGHH am so mad that the third book wont be coming out for a while cuz i already read the first two… ha man i am happy that my grandma spotted the book and i acted interested but tried to put it back on the book shelf and she said she was buying it lol Gone was so good it only took like 2 days to read and i waited 3 months for Hunger but now i have to wait a year for Lies =( (not cool)
haha like lana said the darkness had its hooks in her these books have their hooks in me lol
Waiting for LIES is really going to kill me. Waiting four months for HUNGER was already torture.
What I love about these books is the wide cast of characters and how the author gets into a lot of their heads, even if their part is minor. Each kid from Sam to Albert is developed so well, and they all have these personalities that make me just…love them! And feel like i know them all. Fast-paced plot with things happening left and right is awesome, and I really respect that the characters are being pushed to the limit, without any downtime. It makes me love them more.
Caine’s character has developed so well from smug, insolent, charming little villain in Gone to a tortured sort of anti-hero in Hunger. That said, I have so much bias toward Sam because we share the same name (except that I’m a girl). I just feel a connection with his character, much as I love Caine. I actually can’t think of a character I don’t like. Sam, Caine, Computer Jack, Lana, Diana, and Orc/Howard are higher up on my list, though. Yes, Orc and Howard are fantastic
Great books, but it better not be a movie. Let’s just say that 10-14 year-old actors are just…too inexperienced to really capture these characters well. They’d have to up the age, which would ruin everything. And no movie could portray the FAYZ well enough.
Every day without LIES, I die a bit. Dying slowly.
This series is so totally awesome. I just bought Gone and Hunger together and I’m already halfway through Hunger. Oh God, I can’t wait for Lies!!! I’ve already asked my mum to lock Hunger in her safe so that I can’t read it. I’ve decided to read it 1 month before Lies comes out. I regret reading Gone so fast. Stupid me. Arrrggghhhh, what do I do???? If only Michael Grant would release Lies earlier….. I guess I’ll have to wait. Sigh sigh sigh…
um well yes loved both and replying to raven, i think the slug thing was drakes arm because they didn’t say where it went when brianna cut it off and if sam was laying there where it fell then he must have seen it but i wonder how it got on brittany and how they are getting it off. poor brittany and duck. ok well when is the next book coming out? thoughts and theories please.
Loved the books. I’ve got to say that at the end of hunger I had a whole new respect for Caine and zil was very very very very very annoying. Albert was making sense but I keep thinking how crazy it is how young they all are and how ready they are to kill. Kind of upsets me. But that’s what makes me love these books(:
*******SPOILER ALERT******
gone and hunger were both fantastic. once u pick up these books u wont put them down. seriously. i love caine and diana together. they act like they dont care about eachother but they do, its adorable. but i also cant stand astrid and little pete. astrid is a know it all and she is full of herself. she annoys me. little pete just bugs me. overall caine and diana are my favorite characters. but drake is dead right cause caine stabbed him with the raddiation pole thing cuz what drake did to diana so im pretty sure he is dead, plus caine collasped the cave with drake in it so i think hes dead.
omggg i just read gone AND IM IN LOVE! its sooo good-i couldn’t put it down, it was such a page turner. IM SO EXCITED TO READ HUGNGER-i tried so hard not to read the spoilers, i wanted to so bad
EVERYBODY WHO HASNT READ GONE DO. IT. NOW.
= )
Thanks for the idea, Sophia. I was thinking though, didn’t the book say that the slug was pale in color? Drake’s arm is bloodred. But I don’t know, maybe it lost it’s color after being cut off. Lol. Anyways– what happened to Astrid’s powers? In the first book, she demonstrated them on pages 235 and 236. She described her powers as almost an ability to see a person’s destiny in highly metaphorical terms. She said that Sam was the brightest shooting star in the sky. (pgs. 471-472) Diana read her as a two bar. (pg. 160) Yea, yea, I’ve read them a lot. :-p Oh yea, and Stephanie? You’re so right- Zil IS annoying. The whole Human Crew is.
So– I want some opinions: What caused the FAYZ? Can’t wait for Lies to come out!!!!!!!!
Ok.How do I start.Gone and Hunger are THE BOOKS I’ve waited all my 12 years in life.Ha ha I actually was in my library with a friend of mine who always reads books I’ve read and recomended to her for some strange reason.LOL Anyway it’s usually the title and cover that drag me twords the books.I know i know …don’t judge a book by it’s cover but watev.I read Gone in 2 days.Usually I read this fast when the book is good but this time it was fantastic, amazing , and so many “fancy ” ways to say …one of a kind.In Hunger I didn’t really like Astrid or Sam.No offence. But they were to damn-anding.I forgive Sam but astrid…not yet. (Raven) It’s true..I had forgoten ALL about Astrid’s power.Maybe Micheal has to.Can’t belive how long I have to wait till Lies come out.I mean I was waiting for Hunger for 5 weeks And I was half dead by the time I got it.LOLPathetic right Questions for all.
1. Do you think you could survive the fays (me… it might seem i’m blufing but i’m not i do think i can)
2. What would you do if you had the choice to stay or poof
3.Were would you want the barrier to stop
4.Were do you get the information of 6 part series and lies and all that awsome info.
Thanx so much :^)
1) I’m not sure if I could survive the FAYZ. I would probably be a follower tho– I’d do whatever Sam or Edilio told me to do. LOL I’d probably be one of the few kids that actually showed up to pick melons. At least, I hope so….
2) I don’t know. As a reader, I really want to see someone poof, and find out what happens on the other side. Living in the FAYZ, though, I’d probably stay. You know, better the devil you know than the one you don’t, etc.
3)? I don’t get what you mean.
4) I don’t know. I got my info on the series off this blog.
Almost forgot.Did you look up any of the song ine the books? thet all rock and Into Action cracks me up
:^) Bye!
Well i was wondering, do you know when the book hunger is coming out in France ?!
I’m going crazy by reading what you say about it !!
pleaseeeee reply ! lol
( oh and by the way i’m sorry for my mistakes )
Does anyone else think Sam and Astrid were wrong by coming down so hard on Albert? They’re both so smart, I would think they would get it. Oh well, I guess they kind of had other things to worry about.
thanx Raven for responding. And sorry for not explaining myself in question # 3.What I ment was if it were to happen…(ya so I m crazy for suggesting that) wht would you like the Fays wall to keep in? I would like the fays to keep in the library, ymca( for boys to bug someone ealse) target, tillys, albertsons, abit of the beach blah blahblah.( I live in cali ) I’d probably stay instead of poof.and as for surviving…I’d be someone they look up to but only one of the last choices
Bye
:^)
Definitely the library– i’d get to keep my job! But then I wouldn’t get paid, would I? Lol.
Um, maybe it’s just me, but I think In-N-Out is better than Mickey D’s (sorry Albert) any day. I love Albertson’s, so that’d be another good thing, like you said. I don’t know. This is a hard question- I’m going to have to give it more thought.
I just found out Hunger is out and im begging my mom to get it for me. I loved Gone i read it in three days cause i couldnt put it down. I cant wait to read the sequel and i agree that this series is MUCH better then twilight.
As much as I loved Hunger, I’m also upset about it. First of all, I felt like Drake, one of my favorite characters EVER, in every single one of the books I’ve ever read (and I’ve read a lot of books), barely had a part! In Gone, he had much more of a central role, and there were far more chapters dedicated to what he was doing than in Hunger. To me, he seemed like sort of a forgotten character that Michael Grant was just like, “Oops, what about Drake? He has to do SOMETHING! Oh, I know, let me just kill him, so this problem doesn’t arise again!” Which brings me to my second point. MICHAEL GRANT (most likely) KILLED DRAKE MERWIN. That is unforgivable, in my eyes. I refuse to believe that he’s truly gone (no pun intended). He was easily the most interesting character! Every time he was occupying the main role in a chapter, it had me on the edge of my seat, wondering what he would do and who he was going to try and kill this time. And then he goes and dies. How wonderful. He has to come back somehow! If he does, you may just be redeemed, Mr. Grant.
About Brittany and the slug thing, I’m 99.99% sure that the ’slug’ is Drake’s arm. When Brianna appeared and cut off part of the whip arm while Drake was torturing Sam, it said that ‘eighteen inches of it was on the floor’. At the end of the book, a pale slug ‘eighteen inches long’ was attached to her. Even though it was blood red when it was Drake’s arm, it most likely lost a lot of its color because of blood loss… that and it’s kind of dead.
Yeah, same Bridget!! I LOVED Drake too and we didn’t really get to see him killing or assaulting people much, which could be considered good or bad; it’s up to you!! I don’t think Drake’s dead.
My guess is that because the 5th book is called Darkness and I think Drake is going to come back with the Darkness and destroy someone like Astrid/Little Pete or Dekka. He could come back before but because he keeps worshipping the Darkness, he has to make his BIG, BIG come back with ‘IT’. But I don’t think he going to just return for that one book, as in Michael Grant would only write him in that one book. I think he may switch to Drake’s point of view (or the Darkness) in Lies and Plague. This is only guess so pure imagination here.
The slug thing I’m not to sure about so I can’t argue that.
Someone can tell me when it will be in french please??
anyone know the price to get the book bought online and sent to kuwait??
drake dies?!!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!!?
gone and hunger are the best books I have ever read! I can’t wait for Lies! The wait seems longer once you finish the books and I finished Hunger in six hours. If michael grant has already finished writing Lies then I think he should publish it. A lot of people are dying to read it.
He has already finished Lies, he’s now writing Plague!! Plague, from what he has said, has more romance but still crazy and breathless; can’t wait!!!! He’s knows what the end is but we don’t!!!
I have a few questions. someone please give their opinion.
First of all, in the first book it said that when you poof you see the thing you most wanted, but it really was a monster.
Was that monster the Darkness (the giaphage)? And if it was, then, now that it has died, will people still poof?
Also, I don’t think Drake has really died. A character like Drake can’t die so easily. That’s what I think.
Does someone know what’s so important about Brittany? She can barely move so how is she going to get out of the hole she’s in?
Please give your opinions.
Hey vicky! Good questions. I’m not sure the gaiaphage is dead. Yea, Duck drilled right through the middle of it, but it was kind of a mass of crystals. That seems hard to kill. Plus– did the uranium fall in with it? As for the poof, that’s another interesting question. I was inclined to think it was the gaiaphage, but that doesn’t really make sense. How would it make kids disappear? It was only interested in getting food so it could grow and move. It would seem in its best interests to keep as many kids present as it could so it would have a better chance of getting fed. So I think that monster is something else. I think ppl will continue to poof. I don’t know about Drake. He was a truly dark and evil character, in some respects even more than the gaiaphage. For that reason he seems equally hard to kill and hard to keep alive. I do not know what is going on with Brittany. Personally, I think that the slug will somehow feature prominently in getting her back in action.
When Jack learned that the Darkness’ name was Gaiaphage, he mentioned that in hacker slang, phage means worm. Gaia is the name for Mother Earth in Greek mythology. So, does that mean the gaiaphage is an ‘earth-worm’? Hmmm……
I think somehow drake and duck make it out of there alive. i agree w/ jami, Astrid annoys the heck out of me. Sam- dump astrid. I think in the last book sam and caine team up w/ eachother and defeat the darkness. kinda obvious if he goes that route. Any way. MICHEAL GRANT IF YOU”RE READING THIS, RELEASE LIES SOONER!!!
in the map at the beggining of the books it says that there’s a little part of the “Evanston Air National Guard Base” in the FAYZ. I wonder why Michael Grant put that there. Does Sam or Caine realize there could be weapons there? They should.
Also, I checked the book and the monster that you see before you poof has to be the giaphage because when Caine and Sam are talking to it, it tells Caine he would come to him in the darkness. And he does at the end of the book.
Raven has a good point though, why and how is it making kids dissapear? Hmm. Guess we’ll all have to wait til the next books to come out.
i got hungert ya me i love it it be so cool to be ther igf i like had the power to steal peps powers and coolect them all.
OH MY GOSH! I randomly got GONE off the shelf at the library and its the best decision ive EVER made !!! ITS SUCH A GOOD BOOK !!!! i read it like in 4 days and i just finished HUNGER . now i find out that LIES come out in MAY ,2010 !!! Thats 8 MONTHS !! =*(
Thank you! I had no idea when Lies was coming out. But ditto on the crying face. We’ll have to wait until 2013 until the whole series is out!!!!!!
May 2010, really? How did you know? That is a long time but at least we know when it’s going to come out. I’ll start counting down… now.
I’ve read Hunger!! I just finished it but no shops in the UK have them on the shelf. (I live in the UK) In the back of my Gone book, it said that Hunger was coming out in 2010 so I had to check a lot on the Internet. I finally got it from the library and really need to buy my own copy!! Hunger was great, brilliant, fantastic, excellent; just absolutely AMAZING!!!
I agree with some of what you have said (okay most of it); Sam is all right but Astrid quite annoying. I think what Sam said to her (page 425-427) is quite true. She did manipulate him. I feel quite sorry for him but he kind of has to be strong; not a wimp!!! Do you thing Sam is going to break up with him??
I can’t wait for Lies and the rest of the series!!! What do you want to find out???
I want to find out:
a) Sam and Caine – the whole relationship thing. Who’s the dad?? Why was Caine given away? etc
b) Are Quinn and Lana going to go out?? (A bit random but still going to be interesting!!)
c) How Albert’s system going to work? Are people going to co-operate?
d) Little Pete?? (That’s all I’m going to say!! LOL)
e) Are people going to come back?? Was it a dream?? (That would be random!)
So yeah, Michael Grant you rule!!
One last thing: Do you think there should be a film?? What would it be like?? Would you watch it? Name people who should be who??
hey jinglebatt,
I think that we’re all wondering about the same things that you are right about now. I’d like to know who ISN’T wondering EVERYTHING about Little Pete! I really hope it isn’t a dream, that would be pointless, really. And about Lana and Quinn… I don’t really like Quinn, I can’t get over how he treated Sam and how he betrayed him to Caine. I really hope Albert’s system works ’cause otherwise the place is going to be a mess, but maybe that’ll just make the story more interesting… hmm. I’m curious about Sam amd Caine too, but I think that if Michael Grant ever decides to solve that mistery it’s going to be all the way in the sixth book, so too bad for us!
Why do all of you think their mom gave Caine away?
Personally, I’m not sure if she really did let go of him. What I mean is: it’s a pretty big coinsidence that his mom ended up being the school nurse in exactly the same school Caine was at!!!
If the adults ever do come back then they’re going to have answer to a very angry and disturbed mob of kids and they’re going to have a whole lot of good questions. Example: WTH didn’t you tell us there was a underground RADIOCTIVE cave? or Sam could ask: Why didn’t you tell me I had an evil twin brother right down the road? or: Shouldn’t you tell someone when kids suddenly start mutating? Especially when it’s the crazy ones that have the cool powers.
With these questions, how could anyone doubt the next books aren’t going to be absolutely AWESOME!
Also, yes I think that it should be made into a movie, or at least into a tv show. The only thing that bothers me is that they’ll leave stuff out and change things
I have no idea who would be good to play them, but one thing I’d have to beg for: don’t make a 23-year old play someone who’s fourteen! Please! But then again, someone really young would probably not know how to act right….
Astrid is VERY annoying. I sort of feel bad because Michael Grant based her on his wife, but I just can’t get myself to really like her…
I think they should break up, but I don’t think they will, though.
One thing I’m just dying to know is what’ll Caine do next?
How will he survive now that they barely have food at Coates?
I hope he gives up the whole I’m-going-to-rule-this-place plot; he’s just going to hurt himself and I don’t see him beating Sam now.
What do you think?
I like your hit at Robert Pattinson and I totally agree, an older person by 10 years wouldn’t work!!! I also agree that NOTHING can get left out!!!! It must all be included!!!! The director, if he did it well enough, would get my vote at any award!!! I can’t actually believe is wife is like Astrid, Imean who would want to marry that sort of woman. I suppose Astrid is an alright character if she’s like you but if not, she’ll annoy the hell out of you!
Gone is the best book, couldn’t put it done. it can be better than twilight!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love Sam,Astrid,Caine and Lana and her dog too-lol
